Laura Marcum, LCSW
Laura Marcum is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of Illinois with more than 20 years of experience in healthcare, geriatric social work, and outpatient therapy. She earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and her Master of Social Work from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
For the past six years, Laura has provided outpatient therapy to individuals across the lifespan. Areas of clinical focus include anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, women’s issues, self-esteem, relationship challenges, substance use, addiction, and life transitions. In addition to her outpatient therapy experience, Laura has extensive experience supporting older adults and their families through aging, memory care, healthcare transitions, and other significant life changes.
Laura believes therapy is not a one-size-fits-all experience. She takes a compassionate, person-centered approach and incorporates evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), to help clients build insight, strengthen coping skills, and achieve meaningful change.
Laura is passionate about creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered. She provides both in-person and Telehealth therapy services.
