Michael Marcum, LCPC
At Counseling Associates of Southern Illinois, I provide compassionate, evidence-based counseling for children (ages 6 and older), adolescents, adults, veterans, military families, and families seeking support through life’s challenges. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and collaborative environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to make meaningful, lasting change.
I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults, veterans, and military families facing a wide range of emotional and behavioral concerns. My clinical interests include trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavioral concerns, emotional regulation, life transitions, and relationship difficulties. I have a particular passion for helping youth and individuals who have experienced trauma build resilience, develop healthy coping strategies, and regain a sense of hope and confidence.
My therapeutic approach is individualized to meet each client’s unique needs and draws from several evidence-based treatment modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Person-Centered Therapy, Play Therapy, and Family Therapy. I believe that no single approach fits every person, and I work collaboratively with clients and families to develop practical, effective strategies that promote growth and long-term success.
Whether you are seeking support for yourself, your child, your family, or a loved one, I am committed to providing professional, compassionate care grounded in respect, empathy, and proven clinical practices. I believe healing is possible, and I consider it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they work toward greater emotional well-being, healthier relationships, and a more fulfilling life.
