Dr. Laura Middleton earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Kansas in 2004. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, WA in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in 2005. She then completed a second postdoctoral fellowship at Madigan Army Medical Center in Pediatric Psychology in 2007. Dr. Middleton specializes in the treatment and assessment of a wide range of child and adolescent problems and diagnoses. She can see children ranging in age from birth through adolescence. Her specific areas of expertise include autism, behavior problems (e.g., oppositional defiant disorder), ADHD, depression, anxiety (including Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder), and adjustment difficulties. Moreover, she has expertise in toileting disorders, medical treatment adherence (e.g., diabetes), and adjusting to medical conditions (e.g., cancer, chronic pain). In addition, Dr. Middleton also has a significant amount of experience working with military families. Along with her colleague Dr. Callies, Dr. Middleton has developed a program – Growing Resilient KIDS – that helps parents and caregivers guide their children in effectively handling life’s challenges and fulfilling their potential. Dr. Middleton is an Early Intervention (birth-3) credentialed provider for the State of Illinois, a member of the National Register of Health Providers in Psychology, and she holds licenses in Clinical Psychology in Illinois and Missouri.
